“Hanglage” is the German word for hillside – something which can be both beautiful and challenging. And just the type of thing that might inspire a creative person who is up for a new adventure, despite the odds. Like Katrin, who founded Hanglage during a rather unusual time – right in the middle of the 2020 crisis. Perhaps it has something to do with her love of mountains, which are in short supply in her hometown of Hamburg, Germany, or maybe it's because of her close connection to the wine regions of the world. It could also just be her irrepressible optimism, which means she doesn’t see a hill as an obstacle, but rather an opportunity. Plus a hillside is also where exceptional wine grows – wine that perfectly suits any moment, no matter how good or bad. For special wines like these, Katrin's team – which also includes a carefully selected, owner-managed carpentry business in northern Germany – designed a wine rack that is as unusual as it is stylish: a “Hanglage” made of high-quality wood that can nestle against any wall and provides a new home for your favourite wine bottles. But of course, Hanglage is much more than just that. Piece by piece, new ideas emerge, which we add to our webshop. So there is always something new to check out.
